Source Matla, the Landscape, and a Boy

(Posted by Stephanie Newman)
Well, here we sit in the town of Source Matla. We are laying the foundation of the house we are building. Christy and I managed to sneak away and find a grassy patch, and that is where I am blogging from.
Wow! The guys are working hard mixing and spreading the concrete. There are so many Haitians helping, watching and playing. Someone brought coloring books and the kids are loving those. This land is stunningly beautiful. We are surrounded by sea and mountains. God has been here with us every step of the way. No injuries or illness... just a few tumbles and encounters with thorn bushes. Kirk has managed to fall a least once every day... hehe.
Most of us are having emotions that are hard to describe. We are having the best time and also a very hard time. It's hard to comprehend everything that we are seeing. But it's also so joyful and fulfilling.
Today some of us got to help take a three-year-old little boy to the clinic on the mission. He had never been to the doctor before. He had a large mass on his belly and we were concerned. It cost $5 to send the boy to the clinic. That is 30 Haitian dollars and most Haitians don't make that much money in a day. They are still at the clinic so pray that it's nothing serious.
We are still in need of your prayers. And we feel God working in so many ways.
Stephanie

Yay, an update. Thanks so much Stephanie. We are praying for you all. I prayed especially concerning the heat today. Are you letting Kirk do construction from a bicycle? He usually only falls off 2-wheeled things...sigh. We love you all so much and are so proud of you. God is faithful to complete the good work you all have begun there - both spiritual and physical building. Tell Kirk I love him. - tiff

Thank you, Stephanie, for the update! It helps us to know how to pray specifically for the team. It's a blessing to hear that God is protecting everyone and providing for your every need! Please tell Chris & Jacob that we miss them & love them. And tell Chris his parents (Mamaw & Papaw Gentle) are here and got to see the blog and hear the updates. They said to tell everyone you are in their prayers. Blessings & Prayers! Terri & April

You are all covered by lots and lots of prayer! So glad to hear you've been blessed with a sweet God breeze while you work so hard.

Galatians 6:9
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

Thank you for sharing Stephanie! It is amazing to hear of the experiences you all are having. May God continue to bless all of you on this blessed journey.
Were you able to find any more information about the boy who was taking to the clinic? I have been praying for him, unable to get him out of my mind. I know God is faithful :)
Take Care,

Hi Stephanie.. I am so touched with all that i have been reading about your experience and the experience of many others in Haiti... I just want to say that the more i read the more i Thank God for all we have.. so many people hurting in dyer need of health care.. I hope this poor child will be ok.. God will help him... please do let us know how he is doing i am so worried about him... My son Andy is also there helping in Haiti with u guys, he has touched my heart with his comments and experiences. he passed out coloring books to many children and he said they loved it and he had to have them share the coloring books with other children's because he did not have enough for all of them, he said they had no problem sharing the books...this show that even though they have " NOTHING " they have no issues sharing the small amount they do have...God how blind and ungreatful we are sometimes, We are totally blessed to have the things we do!!. i know God works miracles and will take care of Haiti.. once again Thank You and Thanks to all the wonderful people that helps the needy.. God bless all of you now and forever...
